Reports: Jack Wilshere out for 3 months

Reports this morning suggest Jack Wilshere will spend at least 3 months on the sideline with his ankle injury.
If true, it would be a major blow for a player who had been given the go-ahead to return to light training after consulting an ankle specialist on Monday.

The central midfielder has failed to start a competitive game this season as a result of a persistent problem with his right ankle.

The club are taking the situation very cautiously, with the star currently wearing a surgical boot which will apparently stay on for another month as the club consult  other specialists worldwide for the best solution to the problem as they avoid rushing him back to insure the injury doesn't persist.

It comes at a bad time for both club and country as England seek to gain qualification for Euro 2012 and Arsenal look to recover from one of the worst starts to a season in recent history.

The club feel that the long-term well-being of Wilshere is paramount and Wenger acted on the last day of the transfer window to ensure he has substantial cover in central midfield, signing Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun respectively.

Self proclaimed footballing God will never to return

Nicklas Bendtner has vowed never to return to Arsenal after joining Sunderland on loan.

The finest no.52 of his generation has ruled out a return to Arsenal after criticizing his lack of game time there.
Bendtner: Can't even model Armani properly

"I will never go back to Arsenal. If I can have it my way, I will never play for them again," Bendtner is quoted as saying in The Sun. "After my car accident, I never really got the chance to earn a spot in the first team.
"That is over one-and-a-half years with no real chance to prove myself.
"I am really looking forward to playing for Sunderland and then we will see next summer.
"I will find a new club - but I will not go back to Arsenal, that's for sure."

Chamberlain keen to impress

Arsenal's exciting young talent Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to is keen to impress manager Arsene Wenger and secure first-team football.

Chamberlain, who played well for the under 21s last Thursday, had this to say.

"He's just told me I need to put pressure on him, impress him in training and that's all I can do," he told the club's official website.

"He's just bought some new players now and I understand it's going to be hard for me, but I'm a young lad coming into the club and I understand I've got a lot of hard work to do to try and impress him."

Chamberlain is surrounded by world-class talent at Emirates Stadium and he insists he has settled in really well having been welcomed into the fold.

"I've settled in well," he continued. "At first I was a little apprehensive going in maybe, but all the boys have welcomed me nicely and I'm getting into the swing of things.

"I understand there is a lot of hard work to establish myself and get in amongst it, but it's going well for me."

Player Watch: Lansbury impresses in U21s win

Henri Lansbury showed West Ham fans a glimpse of what's to come last night with a man of the match display in the 6-0 friendly win against lowly Azerbaijan.

Henri Lansbury began his excellent display by playing in captain Jordan Henderson for a great chance that he was unfortunately unable to capitalise on before his corner a few moments later was met well by Dawson to put the hosts 1-0 up.

Chamberlain was at hand to assist his team mate 21 minutes in when a floating cross was meet excellently by Lansbury who shifted his body well before executing a fine overhead kick which resulted in the ball rustling in the far corner of the net.

Henri's last contribution to the scoreline came soon after Henderson's third as he got on the end of Chamberlain's deflected cross to fire a fierce shot into the back of the net.

Much has been questioned of Lansbury's ability and whether or not he us good enough to crack the Arsenal first team, but on tonight's showing he is well on course to doing so. Although a veteran in Arsenal's books, Lansbury is only 20. People should remember Cleverly was also playing championship football and looked miles away from the first team at this age, we just need to be patient. Part of me feels he would have better luck in a less advanced role though. He lacks the supreme technique and ability of Jack Wilshere or Arteta and will unfortunately never progress past being a squad player in this part of the pitch. However, there is hope. Lansbury, in my opinion, got the engine, determination and defensive competence to to play as an effective box to box midfielder. Henri's contract is up for renewal next summer and although I Defiantly feel Wenger will offer him a new contract, whether or not Lansbury will accept or leave in search of a regular starting place remains to be seen.

Up next- Per Mertesacker.
